The first green shoots are already sprouting, the birds are getting ready for the next brood and we are also getting ready for new endeavours. If the drive falters here and there, spring cures help us to get going.

If we are plagued by the many pollens that spring brings with it, there are also some herbs that can help.

If we are inclined to face the spring awakening in summer clothing, we quickly catch a bladder infection.

Our specialist, pharmacist Gabriela Burkhard and West-TCM/TEN therapist, has put together a spring package of West-East tinctures based on her practical experience.

Spring cure in 3 parts

When the metabolism lets the spring drive down!

A 3-pack, CLARO 1, 2, 3 supports you from top to bottom during a detox programme. One litre of detox tea with corn hair and nettle leaves per ½ should accompany the entire cure. In keeping with the principle of strengthening the centre, you should also take warming soups flavoured with caraway, cumin or coriander. coriander. The mother tinctures are continued after 9-17 days of detoxification. The Claro 1-3 drop cure can then be alternated on a weekly basis.

CLARO 1 - Crataegus comp.

You start the cure on a quiet weekend.

Dampness in the chest area stagnates the energy, heat arises, robs the good juices and prevents the free flow in the heart, lungs and lymph.

"CRATAEGUS conveys new life impulses - accumulated vitality is the main motif of the hawthorn structure"

– Roger Kalbermatten, Essence and Signature of Medicinal Plants, p. 147

CLARO 1 contains 3 imperial herbs: The fruit of hawthorn, Crataegus laevigata ex fructus, stimulates the metabolism, slightly warms, moves blood and Qi, frees He channels, releases stasis from food, is excellent for stimulating the heart and the physiological downward movement. The extract of ivy, Hedera helicis, frees old mucus accumulations in the lungs. The brown root, Scrophularia nodosa, relieves the lymph. The 3 emperors are accompanied by lavender, white peony and burdock.

Start of the week with CLARO 2

CLARO 2 - Taraxacum comp.

On Monday, switch to CLARO 2 to support the liver and gallbladder as well as the digestive powers for 3 days.

If the winter festive season has given free rein to gluttony, dampness and/or heat toxins have remained, the free flow of liver and gall bladder as well as the power of the centre can be supported.

"The roeweed herbs (Asteraceae) have a power to cool and dry. Eygenschafft to cool and dry. The dandelion surpasses even even chicory because of its bitterness"

– Jacobus Theodorus Tabernaemontanus, Kreuterbuch (1625)

Dandelion, the metabolic activator par excellence, serves as the emperor's herb and is supported by the bile-stimulating extracts of artichoke and celandine in spagyric preparations. Angelica archangelica is able to dry and tone the moist centre. Marshmallow is able to protect the stomach from the bitterness of the mixture with its mucilage, while mint harmonises and refreshes the taste.

Continuation with CLARO 3

CLARO 3 - Lamium comp.

On Thursday, switch to CLARO 3 for the removal of damp-heat toxins in the intestinal, genital and bladder area.

"Dead nettles resemble stinging nettles in their foliage and are like these children of spring"

– Rev. Johann Künzle

Dead nettle accompanied by barberry bark serve as imperial herbs, the haematopoietic, moving Chinese angelica strengthens, witch hazel conjures away dampness and goldenrod protects the kidneys, while nettle drains moisture.

Allergies: prevention and treatment

Prevention of hay fever

ALLERGO 1 - Astragalus comp.

A regulated immune system protects against excessive reaction to the pollen invasion in early summer. ALLERGO 1 supports the system.

"Tragacanth, a butterfly flower, native to the entire northern hemisphere northern hemisphere, was already used by Paracelsus as a valuable carrier plant for medicines such as myrrh and frankincense to prevent plague for seafarers"

– Paracelsus III/541 from Herbalism of Paracelsus, Rippe, Madejsky, p. 207

Astragalus, the tragacanth, is able to raise the original Qi and strengthen the defence energy of the surface, while the European angelica transforms moisture. Together they form the imperial pair of the formula. They are supported by witch hazel, hawthorn and liquorice; the Chinese red date and yarrow regulate and harmonise the mixture.

Hay fever at the beginning of the year

ALLERGO 2 - Ephedra comp.

When nasal congestion, runny nose and chest tightness as a reaction to early pollen counts prevent easy breathing, ALLERGO 2 is appropriate.

"The cowslip, also known as the key to heaven, because it is said to have fallen from St Peter's bunch of keys to revive the breath after cold winter days."

– Herbal remedies from Hildegard von Bingen, Irmgard Müller, p. 125

In a spagyric preparation, the seaweed takes over the emperor's function, delicately warming and opening the surface. Cassia cinnamon twigs help to open and disperse, tragacanth and coneflower mobilise the immune system in a cool and warm way. Cowslip, as a spring pointer, is able to counteract shortness of breath, eyebright is considered the messenger of the recipe and also reaches the eye area. Yarrow, ginger and liquorice regulate and harmonise.

Euphrasia rostkoviana

Hay fever early to late summer

ALLERGO 3 - Sambucus comp.

When the grass pollen season arrives, signs of heat are in the foreground and congestion in the nose, throat and eye area makes the head more difficult. ALLERGO 3 comes into play.

"The black elder, a living medicine chest around the house and farm"

– Bruno Vonarburg, Energised medicinal plants, p. 185

A bouquet of mother tinctures of elderberry, burdock seed, coneflower, mullein, marjoram, sea buckthorn and milk thistle relieves congestion and attacks in the eyes, nose and throat during the acute pollen season, eyebright points the way to the head, ginger and liquorice harmonise the mixture.

Cystitis: acute and chronic

Cystitis with cold in the background

URO 1 - Tropaeolum comp.

Cold damp winds, wet damp feet bring cold and irritation to the bladder. Frequent urge to urinate with cloudy, light-coloured urine, little burning sensation are symptoms.

"The essence of nasturtium is the penetration of light through the moist and dark"

– Roger Kalbermatten, Essence and signature of medicinal plants, p. 88

The pungency of nasturtium and the anti-inflammatory power of the buccos bush dispel cold and pathogens in the bladder. Lovage, one of the important Qi tonics, is also able to drive water retention out of the legs and has an antispasmodic effect in URO 1. Goldenrod and juniper protect and strengthen the kidneys, prevent bacteria from adhering to the bladder wall and eliminate pathogenic factors. The sweetness of the Chinese red date nourishes the good juices and harmonises.

Tropaeolum majus

Acute cystitis with heat in the background

URO 2 - Uva-Ursi comp.

If a bacterial pathogen has already produced toxic heat, the urine will be dark in colour and urination will be accompanied by an unpleasant burning sensation. A test shows increased leucocyte levels. The adhering toxins can be treated with URO 2.

The formula should only be used in the acute phase for a maximum of 6 days.

"Bearberry is even known as a medicinal herb to most, otherwise shy doctors"

– Rev. Johann Künzle

The time-honoured bearberry counteracts the heated inflammation in the bladder as the emperor's herb and is accompanied by the pain-relieving meadowsweet and the toxin-discharging effect of barberry. Horsetail is able to form structure, juniper and lovage balance the cold energy of emperors and ministers, have an antispasmodic effect and strengthen the bladder. Liquorice serves to harmonise the recipe.

Uva ursi

Bärentraube – Uva ursi

Chronic cystitis, frequent urge to urinate, irritable bladder

URO 3 -Dioscorea comp.

URO 3 treats the 'weak bladder', which results in a frequent urge to urinate, irritable bladder and recurrent cystitis. Cold sensations, tiredness and oedema are accompanying symptoms. The formula can also be used to treat vaginal discharge.

"The yam, firmly integrated into the food chain in the southern hemispheres, belongs to a tropical plant genus and was named in honour of the Greek physician Dioscurides."

– Steinegger and Hänsel, Pharmacognosy and Phytopharmacy, p. 218

As an emperor's herb, the extract of fresh yam strengthens the bladder and kidneys. The pungent aromatic clove warms and moves the damp cold together with the rhizome of calamus, also known as German ginger. Parsley draws out clinging dampness, nettle tones the blood and taiga root acts as a strengthening adaptogen. Liquorice harmonises the formula.
